This course provides an introduction to the principles and practices of computer networks, wireless systems and the Internet. The students are introduced to basic network concepts, seven-layered OSI network model, TCP/IP protocol suite, wireless network & personal communication along with various useful networking tools. The ISO-OSI layered model is introduced and used as a framework for examining computer communication. Using the Internet as an instance of a computer network, students can see how the discussed protocols work in practice. A programming project will give the students hands-on experience with practical networking applications.
